This program is available for any family that needs child care beyond the normal preschool hours of 9-12. The Preschool Program at PUMC has a reputation for providing an excellent early childhood education for children ages 2 ½ to 5. With this in mind, we want to make it possible for teachers and parents who work from home or who have flexible work schedules to have the advantage of this unique preschool/extended care option for their young children.

Hours are 7:45 to 4:30 Monday-Friday

Months-August to mid- June (We are available for teacher work days on an as needed basis.)

We follow the Powhatan County Public Schools schedule and are closed when they are closed for holidays and snow or weather related emergencies.

Daily Schedule

7:45-9 Early drop off-breakfast may be brought from home, activity/play time

9-12 Preschool (ages 2 ½-3)

9-2 Preschool (ages 4-5)

12-1:30 Extended care-big room activities and lunch, brought from home

1:30-2:30 Outside play, weather permitting. Inclement weather-gym activities.

2:30-2:45 Afternoon snack, provided

2:45-4:15 Nap or rest (children’s videos or music, quiet activities for non-sleepers)

4:15-4:30 Cleanup- time to go home

Our afternoons are casual and comfortable, as much like home as possible. There is lots of time for play both inside and outside, guided by the same experienced and loving teachers who lead our morning preschool programs.
